Par and Polkerris Beaches See The Arrival of Storm Christoph

With storm Christoph about to hit the UK, me and my beach cleaning buddy headed out early to avoid getting soaked!

First on the agenda was Polkerris,

The storm and high tide has washed away any debris, so most of what we found were micro plastics.
We found our daily drinks can, and sadly another needle... where do they come from?

The tideline was strewn with cabbage leaves! And sadly, numerous dead fish; Woody made the most of this, and when i was distracted, had a bit of sushi for his brealfast, followed by a cabbage leaf nibble!

As the beach slowly disappeared with the high tide, we decided to stop at Par beach on our way home.

As with Polkerris, Par beach was fairly clean. We did pick up some micro plastics; We also found tampax applicators and the top of a drinks can.

The banks of the sand dunes and river are starting tp break down; i presume this is part of the ever shifting coastal and river  environment. But the shocking thing is all the litter that is embedded in these banks. I wonder how long they have been there and how long it will be before it all ends up on the beach and sea.

We did have a pull to see if any of it would come out, but it was all deeply embedded still.

Stay safe and if you do manage a visit to the coast, be sure to pick up a couple of pieces of plastic / litter.... it really does make a difference x
