Sunrise, Carlyon Beach, Cornwall. Leave nothing but footprints........

There are moments in life when nature stops me in my tracks and reminds me how lucky I am. Today was no exception. When I arrived at Carlyon beach, the sun was rising over St Austell Bay, with Gribbin Head in the background.

It was inspiring, calming, peaceful and glorious. A moment I was glad I witnessed first-hand.

The sunrise reminded me that we should leave nothing but footprints on the sand......

Treasures were found; they included some beautiful pieces of pottery and sea glass. I always wonder what these fragments use to be.... who held them and how did they end up on the beach. If only they could talk!

If you do go beachcombing, do be careful of sharp objects! I seem to be finding increasing amounts of sharp metals on the sand and buried. Lots of disposable BBQ's. The piece of metal below has a really pretty pattern but i have no idea what it is and whats its past life was!

This winter i have decided to keep hold of bottle lids to see how many different brands I find. The plastic bottle lids are also a good illustration of how plastic breaks down within the sea / coastal environment.

Happy Beachcombing!
