There is nothing like a coastal walk in the wind and rain to blow away the cobwebs! Monday saw us take a trip to Lantic Bay - a beautiful and secluded beach.
The natural beauty of the location is inspiring, even when viewed in squally showers!
Despite the slippery walk down to Lantic Bay, the beach was pretty clean. Seaweed does a superb job of disguising and pollution, and requires some prodding to uncover the plastic; i am always careful to gently look, and minimise disturbing the natural habitat of numerous creatures.
One thing really struck me, and that was the amount of rubbish strewn along the edge of the cliffs. Lots of BBQ's and picnics were clearly enjoyed over the summer - but, if you can go to the effort of carrying food to the beach, then take the rubbish home - simples! As the stormy season gets underway, the high tides and large waves will takes all of this rubbish out to see. I am pretty sure the dolphins, seals and varying wildlife, don't require bottle lids, straws and disposable BBQ's. If we all work together, we can ensure less pollution ends up in the sea; it really isn't complicated.
Just before you go down the final descent to Lantic Bay, there is a sign which someone has written 'Take rubbish home'. A simple message, but an incredibly powerful one.
